Dubai Properties has awarded ASGC the US$144m construction contract for the phase two of its Dubailand's The Villa project, comprising 220 villas.
Ehab Edward, construction director at ASGC, said he expected the construction to be completed in mid-2008.
"While the majority of ASGC's latest projects are focused around high-rise towers and developing a community of structures such as the Jumeirah Beach Residence, this project is unique in that we are constructing villas that are modern with a classical touch. These mostly Spanish-styled villas are removed from the standard way of building villas, along with the infrastructure and facilities that will surround the area."
The Villa is a residential retreat, inspired by large spaces for outdoor living, he said.
The residential community is spread over 35 million sq ft and offers Spanish-style villas surrounded by a desert landscape. The residences at The Villa feature four, five and six-bedroom courtyard villas with terraces that offer views of the surrounding landscape and waterways.
Four residences make up the development, including the The Haciendas, The Ponderosa, The Aldea and The Centro which is the focus of the community. The project's total value is estimated to be around US$1.7bn.
