Police say accidents caused by tailgating and jumping red light
Five people died and five were injured in 23,000 Abu Dhabi car accidents reported during Eid celebrations this week.
Mohammed Al Humairi, head of the Abu Dhabi traffic police, said the accidents were caused due to tailgating, jumping the red light and sudden lane swerving by motorists.
He said the police were keen to raise awareness of drivers by providing them with tips to enhance their driving skills, which will lead to road safety.
In Dubai, 1,346 traffic accidents took place during the Eid holidays with the police receiving over 15,000 phone calls.
