Flag cable repairs complete on Sunday

Flag Telecom says repairs to its undersea cables should be completed by 10th February; anchor that broke UAE cable recovered

Undersea cable operator Flag Telecom says that repairs to its cables in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf will be completed by Sunday 10th February.

Flag has also said that the FALCON cable, which runs between the UAE and Oman, was severed by a ship, after an abandoned anchor was discovered near the site of the damage.

The cause of the damage to its cable in the Mediterranean was still unclear after the Egyptian government said that no ships were in the area of the two cables, Flag Asia-Europe and Sea-Me-We4, which were damaged last Thursday.

The status of the second cable in the Meditrerranean, operated by the Sea-Me-We4 consortium, is unknown.
