Flavio Braitore’ Dubai project, nightlife venue Billionaire Mansion, will open its first restaurant, Sumosan, this March.
The Japanese restaurant, a London favourite among celebrities like Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz, will serve traditional Asian cuisine alongside favourite Italian dishes.
Briatore, former Formula One boss and millionaire businessman, told Arabian Business he wanted to combine the world’s two best cuisines in one kitchen.
“What are the two best kitchens in the world? Italian and Japanese. In Sumosan in Billionaire Mansion, you can have both. If you want to have the sashimi, you have the sashimi, if you want to have the pasta Arabiatta, you have the pasta Arabiatta,” he said, adding that the process was not easy.
Sumosan will be headed by Executive Chef Bubker Belkhit and will serve dishes like paper-thin sliced sashimi, tuna roll, and Albemarle roll - made from salmon and flying fish.
The brand was first founded in Moscow in 1997 by Alexander Wolkow and his daughter Janina Wolkow.
As for Billionaire Mansion, it’s a nightlife destination concept imported from Briatore’s Sardinia nightclub, Billionaire.
Located in the Taj Hotel, it is set to open this year and will include two restaurants, a lounge, a nightclub, a shisha cafe and a karaoke bar.
