Flights into the UAE were disrupted by heavy fog, it has been reported.

Poor visibility saw flights that were supposed to land in Sharjah diverted to other airports over the past few days, reported Khaleej Times.

It follows a warning of fog western and northern parts of the UAE, issued by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS)

Meteorologists confirmed fog formation over areas including Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain.

The NCMS warned of the chance of fog and mist with visibility at less than 1,000m over some internal and coastal areas, especially westwards. Visibility was expected to be reduced to 400m in Liwa.

Flights resumed normal service shortly after the disruptions, said the report.
