Flowfresh offers sterile polyurethane solution

Flowcrete has launched the next generation of anti-microbial flooring with its new seamless Flowfresh polyurethane range.

Flowcrete has launched the next generation of anti-microbial flooring with its new seamless Flowfresh polyurethane range.

Flowfresh is specifically designed for application in the food and drinks processing industry, dairies, healthcare facilities - places where hygiene is the top priority.

Flowcrete recently joined forces with chemicals and performance materials company Perstorp Chemicals to utilise its unique Polygiene compound.

Andrew Gwyther, regional manager for Flowcrete Middle East, said: "Working with Polygiene, we are able to provide flooring systems offering the best possible protection to keep areas clean and sterile. The new anti-microbial systems represent a major step forward in delivering hygiene performance across the range of food processing, healthcare and pharmaceutical environments."

A special additive in Polygiene emits ions of silver, which continuously migrate to the surface where they suppress microbial growth. The additive is locked into the resin matrix within Flowfresh floors and provides 24/7 protection, remaining active throughout the lifetime of the flooring system.

The anti-microbial is effective against a range of bacteria including E.coli, Staphylococcus Aureus, MRSA, Salmonella Typhi, Streptococcus Pyogenes and SARS. It also inhibits the growth of mould, fungi and mildew and protects against the propagation of superbugs.

"Polygiene should not be seen as a substitute for cleaning but as a second line of defence for regular hygiene practices," said Gwyther.

High levels of abrasion and impact resistance and very high chemical resistance are further benefits of the Flowfresh range. A range of standard colours enables different working zones within a plant to be colour coded. Flowfresh Coving for a seamless wall/floor interface completes the range.
