Foundry Networks is showcasing its strength in the switching market with its Layer 2 and 3 product families and Layer 4-7 internet traffic management solutions this Gitex. Visitors to the stand can also check out Foundry’s 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology and the FastIron Edge Switch (FES) series, which is being introduced at the show. According to the vendor, the FES range offers users improved levels of security, redundancy, reliability, resiliency and flexibility at a reduced total cost of ownership. The compact rack switches, which are available with 24, 48 or 96 ports, also provide user-selectable Layer 2 switching that can be upgraded to full Layer 3 multiprotocol routing. To illustrate the functionality and capability of this technology a live ‘always on’ cross stand voice over IP (VoIP) network is also being demonstrated. The networking vendor is also highlighting the scalability and capacity of its BigIron 4000, 8000 and 15000 multiprotocol Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switches, all of which incorporate its JetCore ASIC-based modules that offer 10 Gigabit Ethernet.Layer 2 scalability for Metro networks and Layer 3 scalability for services providers; fine grain bandwidth management and wirespeed network monitoring are also key features of the switches.
