Damascus's booming MICE sector has prompted Four Seasons Hotel to launch a ‘first' for banqueting in the city. The property has revealed plans to open a new catering showroom in the coming months.
"We are building a showroom next to the banquet area with plasma screens to show clients the events we have held and the table displays we offer, so they can get a feeling of the service they could receive," Aboud Haboury, director of catering, told Caterer Middle East.
"This is the first time this has been done in Damascus, and we have also produced catalogues to showcase a plethora of set-ups, and to highlight our attention to detail such as having one server per table and set menus."
The luxury property's burgeoning banqueting sector witnessed 11,000 covers during July and August for dinners, with increasing demand for high-end weddings and corporate events.
The MICE sector currently accounts for a 30% share of the property's banqueting business, with banquets prices approximately 20% higher than other hotels in Damascus.
"A lot of new wedding and event planners are emerging in Damascus every month, each with a new idea and hoping to target the growing potential," he said.
The property's executive chef is currently developing new menus in a bid to tap into further potential within the sector. Facilities now include a capacity for 450 diners seated, with a dance floor, stage and extensive listings of contacts for entertainment, lighting and design.
