French engineering firm Technip has been awarded a half a billion dollar contract at the Satah Full Field Development, an oil field in Abu Dhabi.

The contract, in partnership with the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), was awarded by the local Zakum Development Company and is for the procurement and construction of equipment to help maximise crude oil and oil recovery production from the project.

The oil field is located around 200km northwest of the UAE capital and the French engineering firm said in a statement on Thursday that it was planning to use gas injection and gas lift techniques to boost oil output.

The work will also include the installation of new facilities at the onshore Satah plant on Ziku island as part of its partnership with NPCC.
