Fujairah City is to be twinned with the Slovenian
capital city of Ljubljana, it was confirmed on Monday at a ceremony at Al
Ramaila Palace.

The event was attended by HH Sheikh Hamad bin
Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, with the
agreement signed by Director-General of Fujairah Municipality, Saif Al Afkham,
and the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic.

The twinning aims to promote bilateral ties of
friendship in various areas, including economy, culture, education, tourism,
arts and sports. It also provides for joint cooperation in scientific research
and cultural exchange, the WAM news agency said.

Ljubljana is twinned with a number of cities and
towns around the world, including Greece’s Athens, Serbia’s Belgrade, Belgium’s
 Brussels, Russia’s Moscow, Austria’s Vienna, Nottingham in the UK and
Cleveland in the US.
