Elie Khouri has been a frontrunner in the Middle East's media industry since being appointed regional managing director of Omnicom Media Group in 2007.
The New York-based holding company last year saw revenues hit the $12.7bn mark. Signs of a slowdown started to show in 2009 with a 14.4 percent decline in profits for Q3.
Its Dubai office has led the Middle East charge, with prestigious accounts including the consolidated businesses of the Dubai government.
Prior to taking on the regional managing director position Khouri consolidated Omnicom's three media arms to form the Optimum Media Direction business in 2002. He is also responsible for expanding the group's Middle East operation, which has overtaken some of the region's established players.
Khouri, who has dual Lebanese/French nationality and a French wife, came into the media industry through a creative background. He worked in client services at BBDO in Dubai, Beirut and Cyprus and says media was "a new word" when OMD launched in the Middle East in 2002.For all the latest business news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
