53 students injured in Saudi uni stampede

The students were hurt when they panicked & rushed to leave the university when the electricity went out

More than 50 female students were injured in a stampede when they rushed to evacuate a Saudi college during a power cut, Arab News has reported.

Most of the 53 girls fainted after panicking when the electricity went out.

Some were trapped in a lift but were rescued without injury, a college spokesman was quoted as saying.

Six of the students remained in hospital in a stable condition, he said.
