An explosion destroyed an apartment in the Al Khail Gate community of Dubai on Wednesday morning, it has been reported.
Local media reported that several injuries are feared after witnesses said people were taken away in ambulances.
The explosion, suspected to be gas cyclinder-related, happened in a fifth floor apartment of Building Number 39 in phase 1 of the Al Khail Gate community, Gulf News reported.
Photos show that the top floor of the building sustained heavy damage and the apartment appears to have been completely destroyed.
It added that Civil Defence and police were not immediately available for comments.
Gulf News said witnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud explosion which caused an apartment wall to cave in.
