Investigation continues into Dubai crash that killed 13

Police expect to interview one of two drivers on Sunday after bus slammed into truck, also injuring 16 others

Dubai police on Sunday expect to begin interviewing the drivers involved in a road accident that killed 13 people at the weekend.

Another 16 people, all Asian expats, were injured when the bus they were travelling in slammed into a truck pulled over on the side of Emirates Road on Saturday.

Police said the truck driver claimed he had pulled over on the shoulder of the road near the turnoff to Dubai Sports City because his brakes were not working properly.

The 26-year-old Pakistani bus driver was taking expat workers to their worksite when the incident happened.

The injured, including the bus driver, were taken to hospital.

Police said they expected to interview the truck driver on Sunday and were investigating whether he took sufficient safety precautions after stopping.

The bus driver would be questioned when he was medically fit to talk to police.
