Expats in Oman who are employed as sales representatives (sales promoter) or purchasing representatives will not have their working visas renewed, under fresh guidelines issues by the country’s Ministry of Manpower.
Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Bakri, Minister of Manpower, issued the decree, which added: “Licenses for recruitment of a non-Omani workforce, and work-permit licenses issued for professions specified in Article 1 of this decision shall apply until the date of their expiry.”
Once the visa expires, expats will be required to leave the country.

In November last year, Oman ruled out issuing visas to expat construction workers and cleaners for six months.
While Oman’s Ministry of Manpower extended a temporary visa ban on hiring expats for six months, beginning on August 5, to include four more professions.
It applies to jobs in the sectors of IT, accounting and finance, sales and marketing, management and human resources, insurance, media, medical, airports and engineering.
