Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has inquired about investing in tourism projects in Croatia, according to local news.
The billionaire prince visited the country last week, meeting with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, the country’s finance minister Ivan Vrdoljak and Armed Forces’ Chief of Staff Drago Lovric, dalje.com reported.
Prince Alwaleed gave advice on how it could attract greater foreign investment in its tourism industry, including reducing red tape and being more assertive in attracting investments.
Speaking after the dinner meeting, President Josipovic said it was “a great honour and pleasure” to host the prince.
“We discussed cooperation between our countries and His Royal Highness showed an interest in Croatia. I hope it will result in concrete cooperation between our governments and economies,” Josipovic was quoted as saying.
“It was my wish and I believe that we have succeeded in presenting Croatia as a hospitable country, open to foreign investments, a country accepting all well-meaning people and friends, such as the Saudi prince.”
Prince Alwaleed reportedly said the president had opened up the door for investment talks and it was now up to the government to continue negotiations.
The prince’s Kingdom Holding has investments all over the world, including in some of the largest companies, Amazon, AOL/Time Warner, Apple Inc., Citigroup, Coca Cola, Compaq, eBay, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Ford, McDonald’s, Motorola, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Procter & Gamble, Walt Disney Company and Twitter.
