The much anticipated FIFA World Cup hosted by Qatar this year is only five days away from the final match which will crown the winners of the tournament, the four teams battling for a spot at the finals are Croatia, Argentina, France and Morocco. The winning team this year will walk away with a staggering $42 million, according to reports.
According to statista.com, the prize money for the World Cup back in 1982 was $2.2 million and rose significantly with the last one being $38 million pre-pandemic at 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where current semi-final contenders, France, took home the victory.

Earlier this month, Arabian Business reported the Qatar World Cup has turned out to be the most expensive FIFA World Cup, with the average match ticket costing £286 ($347), higher by 39 percent from the 2018 event in Russia, the latest study revealed.
The first World Cup event in the Middle East and the Arab world also turned out to be most expensive in other costs such as for stay, travel and food.
The cost for the final match tickets in Qatar – priced at around £684 ($830) – is a whopping 59 percent higher compared to the last World Cup, the study by Keller Sports, a Munich-based leading sports supplier, found.
FIFA has released the match schedules and full fixture list for the semi-finals in Qatar which is set to take place on December 13 and 14.
Here is the list of FIFA match timings and venues to keep track of your favourite teams and when and where they are due for kick off, until December 18.
The matches will be held across just two stadiums. These are:
- Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor
- Lusail Stadium, Lusail
Semi-final on Tuesday, December 13
- Argentina VS Croatia (Lusail Stadium; kick-off at 7PM)
Semi-final on Wednesday, December 14
- France VS Morocco at the Al Bayt Stadium (Al Bayt Stadium; kick-off at 7PM)
The winner of each game will then play in the final on Sunday, December 18 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium; kick-off at 3PM.
