A Qatari royal has been fined by authorities in Pakistan for hunting birds with falcons without a permit in the northwest of the country.
AFP reports that the royal, named as Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman bin Hamad, was caught hunting in Dera Ismail Khan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in November.
Ishtiaq Urmar, the environment and wildlife advisor to the provincial chief minister, said the prince didn’t have permits for three hunting falcons he brought into Pakistan, which he said were detained.
Urmar said the prince was fined $800 (80,000 rupee).
