Saudi orders complete lockdown of industrial area in Dammam

Saudi Arabia, the largest country in the GCC, has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the region, with the total currently standing at 25,459 and 176 deaths so far.

Officials in Saudi Arabia have ordered the complete lockdown of an industrial area of Dammam, the capital of the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Ministry of Interior has announced that entry into and exit from the second industrial city is banned from Sunday “until further notice”, with the exception of freight and goods transport.

Operation of “vital factories” within the second industrial city is allowed, as long as it is done within one third of capacity.

The ministry has, however, lifted precautionary measures in the Al-Atheer district in Dammam city, from Sunday, allowing residents to go out between 9am and 5pm.
