Luxury travel company Roam will soon open a glamping experience to travellers in Saudi Arabia.

The company is launching an upscale nomad-style camp in the mountainous region of Taif in May, offering guests a back-to-nature stay in bell tents on the eastern slopes of the Sarawat Mountains.

The accommodations will feature outdoor music systems, yoga mats, and board games, while outdoor activities such as quad biking, archery, hiking, kite-flying, and stargazing will also be available. Expert astronomers will guide the stargazing sessions.

However, the camp will change location every eight to 12 weeks as it follows the seasons, providing travellers with access to largely undiscovered regions of Saudi Arabia.

“We are following the seasons. So we will be operating in the north for the winter — October to March on the tourism calendar — from Neom to Al Ahsah Oasis, Riyadh, Jeddah and AlUla. And in the summer months, from May to September, we’ll be travelling and activating the mountain regions of Saudi, Taif, Baha and Abha,” Roam managing director Stuart McNair said during the company’s launch event on Monday in Diriyah.

Roam’s first tourism offering will allow guests to experience unique activities and local businesses, such as rose harvesting in Taif or banana plantation farming in Al Baha.

Roam will also work with locals and small businesses to offer guests experiences that are unique to each locale. Founded by Saudi Arabia’s Cool Inc – a lifestyle curator known for its upscale food, cultural and travel experiences, and luxury yachting company Pelorus – the company also offers travellers the opportunity to book tours, accommodation, aviation, and concierge services.

Products on offer include mobile camps, e-buggies, and private dining at unique locations across the kingdom.

The camp will move across the kingdom and offer stops in locations such as Tanomah, known for its natural waterfalls, and AlUla, where guests can sleep surrounded by ancient Nabataean history.

Guests at Roam will also be able to experience a unique and luxurious stay while also supporting local businesses and discovering undiscovered regions of Saudi Arabia.

“We have a huge list of products that we’re bringing to the market. We have everything from the small and personal such as Instagrammable walking tours, art tours, private cookery lessons, all the way to big products such as our mobile camps, day camps and coast-to-coast expeditions through the Empty Quarter,” McNair added.
