Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector is undergoing a major strategic transformation as the Kingdom accelerates the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies to build a competitive, sustainable, and globally integrated industrial economy.
The shift, driven by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, reflects the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the national economy and strengthen the role of industry as a core pillar of long-term growth.
AI, IoT, and 3D printing
Advanced manufacturing has become one of the key drivers of this transformation, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and 3D printing to enhance efficiency, boost competitiveness, and expand innovation across production lines.
The National Industrial Strategy supports these efforts through initiatives such as the Future Factories programme, which aims to transform 4,000 traditional factories into smart, globally benchmarked manufacturing plants.
Global industrial trends demonstrate how AI improves quality control and productivity, while IoT enables real-time energy and resource management and strengthens supply chain visibility.
At the same time, 3D printing is reducing reliance on inventories, accelerating product design, and shortening supply chains — positioning these tools as strategic enablers of industrial renewal.
6.5 per cent industrial growth in 2025
According to data from the General Authority for Statistics, the Industrial Production Index (IPI) rose by 6.5 per cent in July 2025 compared to the same month last year.
The increase was largely driven by manufacturing activity, the core of the national industry that converts raw materials into high-value products.
This growth highlights the direct impact of national industrial programmes on production efficiency and global competitiveness.
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources continues to expand its initiatives to accelerate digital transformation across the industrial and mining sectors, applying AI, IoT, robotics, and data analytics to every stage of production — from design and engineering to logistics and quality control.
The Ministry will showcase the Kingdom’s industrial strategy at Industrial Transformation Saudi Arabia 2025, which takes place in Riyadh in December 2025.
Organised by Deutsche Messe and Riyadh Exhibitions Company, the event will feature conferences, seminars, and workshops focused on empowering national talent and promoting collaboration between industry and academia.
Specialised training programmes will equip students, engineers, and technicians with the skills needed to work with emerging technologies and lead the next generation of Saudi industry.
