Saudi Arabia has launched an instant labour visa service, it was announced on Monday.
The service will be available through the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s qiwa portal.
It allows private sector firms, which have reached a higher percentage of Saudisation and comply fully with the ministry’s regulations, to obtain a visa immediately, without having to go through the usual recruitment process, which can take up to eight months.
Companies must also fulfil other obligations before taking advantage of the new service, including career advertising and other requirements related to the size of the firm and volume of contracts, according to a report in the Saudi Gazette.
It is hoped the new service will help grow Saudisation rates in the kingdom.
Last month the Minister of Labour and Social Development announced a decision to Saudise the management and specialist professions in the tourism sector.
It requires 100 percent Saudisation of roles in reservation, purchases, marketing and front desks, but excludes jobs like bellboy, parking valet, driver and doorman.
Private companies can register for the service through the its dedicated website.
