The UAE and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have strongly condemned the latest Houthi attempts to target civilian facilities and economic installations in Saudi Arabia.

The Houthi militants reportedly carried out attacks in a “deliberate, systematic manner using ballistic missiles and bomb-laden drones,” the state-run news agency, Wam reported.

The Arab Coalition, the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces, and the Royal Saudi Air Force intercepted some of the attacks, while others caused damage to civilian facilities, homes, and private property.

The Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia’s measures to protect its lands, citizens, residents, and economic facilities.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) said that the continued threat of these attacks by the Houthi militias reflects their blatant disregard for the international community, the efforts made to end the Yemeni crisis, and all international laws and norms.

The Ministry urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these recurrent acts that threaten the security and safety of civilians as well as the security of global energy supplies and economic stability.

It also called on the international community to support measures taken by the Arab Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to stop the Houthi militias from targeting civilian objects and deter their threats to countries of the region.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy confirmed a drone attack on an Aramco oil refinery in Riyadh but added that supply had not been affected.

In January 2022, one of the biggest attacks on UAE soil ignited a fire at Abu Dhabi’s main international airport and set fuel tanker trucks ablaze in a nearby industrial area.

The UAE underlined its support for all measures taken by Saudi authorities, stressing that the security of the UAE and that of Saudi Arabia are indivisible and that any threat facing the kingdom is considered a threat to the security and stability of the UAE.
