Top Dubai hotel closes for full revamp

Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel scheduled to reopen in 8-10 months with new look

Dubai's economic and tourism giant key to achieving emirate's growth ambitions

The Dubai government is working towards a constant improvement of its efficiency and relevance in today’s business context.

A luxury Dubai hotel has closed and is scheduled to reopen next spring as it undergoes an extensive refurbishment.

Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel has announced that it is undergoing a full refurbishment of all guest rooms, the Vivaldi restaurant and other facilities in the hotel.

The hotel closed on July 8 and will not be operational for up to 10 months, a statement issued on Tuesday said.

The extensive renovation of the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel will include a complete redesign of the public spaces and all 262 rooms and suites.

The revamp will embrace “the modern interpretation of classic design for which the Sheraton brand is known,” the statement said.

It added: “Drawing inspiration from European classical design influences as well as Dubai’s modern tastes, the hotel’s new design will feature Arabic-influenced accents which celebrate the emirate, depicting scenes of Dubai old and new, Arabic patterns, and of the importance of water, another key design element.”

When the hotel re-opens in 2014, guestrooms will feature enhanced technology with a 42 inch LCD television, DVD player, iPod docking station and wifi internet.

The hotel will also introduce the brand’s Link@SheratonSM – a social, technology hub in the lobby.

The hotel’s Italian restaurant Vivaldi restaurant and bar will also be undergoing a full refurbishment while the Hatta room overlooking the pool and Creek will be turned into a breakfast venue.
