Dubai inmates receive AED500,000 in donations ahead of New Year

The donation to the Dubai Correctional and Punitive Establishments is part of a series of humanitarian aid initiatives the company is carrying out, according to Mohammad Al Ansari, chairman and managing director of Al Ansari Exchange Company.

Incapable inmates have received AED500,000 in donations from Al Ansari Exchange Company to help pay off debts, children’s education fees and families’ house rents, according to Gulf Today.

The donation to the Dubai Correctional and Punitive Establishments is part of a series of humanitarian aid initiatives the company is carrying out, according to Mohammad Al Ansari, chairman and managing director of Al Ansari Exchange Company.

The amount was received by Brigadier Ali Mohammed Al Shamali, director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, who thanked Al Ansari for its efforts to “establish social solidarity and contribute to the development and social objectives of the UAE”.

He added: “This donation comes as a result of the fruitful cooperation and collaboration with the Dubai Police in different areas to spread happiness among the society members.”

Al Ansari praised Dubai Police’s own humanitarian initiatives, whereby it extended AED815,942 worth of financial assistance to inmates during the third quarter of this year, bringing the total aid to AED5.5 million in nine months, according to a report by the Humanitarian Care Department of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments.

Al Shamali said Dubai Police aim to rehabilitate inmates to help them transition back into their community after they have served their sentences.
