Sibaq Lahja, a coding initiative supported by Cisco, has opened registrations through Coders HQ

Emirati graduates

A coding bootcamp is looking for 25 ambitious and hardworking citizens or residents who are eager to put theoretical knowledge into real-life AI applications and implementation of the Emirati dialect.

Sibaq Lahja is an initiative set up by the Minister of Artificial intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Application Office and Cisco Systems.

It aims to equip young Emirati coders and software engineers with the necessary skills to develop and deploy AI solutions in the realm of Arabic Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Coders HQ has just announced the opening of registration for Sibaq Lahja, which is organised in collaboration with Cisco and AiXplain. Coders HQ is a coding community who work as strategic enablers to the UAE digital economy.

Sibaq Lahja will also focus on improving candidate’s skills in Python language, training them on deep machine learning and the basics of NLP. Registration applications will be open until 14 June.

Sibaq Lahja has been divided into four stages: applications through the website, interviewing candidates to select 25 from university students, training the candidates in programming, and educating them on new topics in AI and the basics of machine learning and programming.

Candidates will work in teams to implement their experience and knowledge in incorporating Arabic language in AI-based systems and programmes that will be accurate and easy to use.

The next stages will challenge candidates to design innovative solutions for real challenges to increase the Arabic data processing used by the public.

The initiatives include the establishment of an evaluation headquarters, creation of an ambassador programme, roll-out of a language programmer challenge and the creation of a Tanzu-focused community.

Also included in the initiatives is the organisation of an “OpenHack” hackathon, use of LinkedIn statistics, challenges initiative with Majid Al Futtaim, collaboration between Emirates and Evaluation Headquarters nominating the coders for career opportunities and Global DevSlam specialised in empowering over 15,000 coders in the UAE.
