Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has unveiled a new Mental Wealth Framework, following directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The initiative, part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aims to position Dubai as a leading global destination for living and working, a statement by the Dubai Media Office (DMO) said.
“Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai continues to advance across various fields and strengthen its status as a leading global city and community of the future. The Mental Wealth Framework, endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during a meeting of The Executive Council, introduces a comprehensive set of initiatives that will enhance Dubai’s global reputation as a preferred destination for quality of life,” Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the DHA said.
The framework, endorsed during an Executive Council meeting, comprises ten initiatives to be implemented over five years at a cost of AED105 million ($28.5 million approximately).
It seeks to develop a comprehensive care model, focusing on early detection, intervention, enhancement, and prevention of mental health issues.
Al Ketbi emphasised on mental wealth being an integral part of the health and welfare of the community and one of the most important strategic objectives of major cities around the world.
The initiative targets various segments of society, including the elderly, children, people of determination, and those with chronic diseases.
It also aims to empower school staff and parents to develop students’ psychological capacities.
According to Al Ketbi, the framework “employs innovative solutions to achieve the highest levels of overall well-being,” as per the statement.
The Mental Wealth Framework aligns with Dubai’s goal to rank among the world’s top three cities for standard of living and achieve a life expectancy ranking in the global top ten.
