Dubai taxi fares have been reduced for the second time, as fuel prices continue to lower down. Prices had reduced previously in October.
As per the new price update, the per kilometre tariff is now 22 fils lower. This means that the fares per kilometre have come down from AED2.19 to AED1.97 per kilometre, making a 20-kilometre taxi journey AED4.40 cheaper.
The price changes will reflect immediately.
The Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, Adel Shakry, revealed the authority’s decision to reduce the taxi fare in Dubai, according to a report by Emarat Al Youm.
Shakri also stressed that “the authority is keen to take into account the needs and demands of passengers, pointing out that it reviews the fees for the cost of taxis at a rate of every two months to ensure that they keep pace with all other variable factors that affect their prices,” according to the report.
He added that the RTA will continue to monitor and review the situation in the coming period, to ensure that the tariff is aligned with fuel prices as well as with the needs of taxi customers.
