GEMS Education leaders met with former UK Schools Minister and education expert Nick Gibb at a conference of head teachers in Dubai.
Nick Gibb, one of the world’s foremost experts in school education and a long-standing former UK Schools Minister, has completed visits to a string of GEMS Education schools around the UAE during a packed five-day itinerary.
Gibb has more than two decades of government and international intra-government experience in education, including 10 years as Minister, and he shared that huge bank of knowhow and insights with GEMS’ Education Team and teachers during his visit.

Mr. Gibb was a keynote speaker at the GEMS Principals’ Conference at Jumeirah Madinat, Dubai, and also visited:
- GEMS World Academy – Dubai
- GEMS National School
- GEMS Founders School – Dubai
- GEMS International School
- GEMS Wellington Academy
- Al Khail, Our Own Boys High School, Sharjah
- GEMS Modern Academy
- GEMS Metropole – Al Waha
He was hosted by GEMS Education Founder, Sunny Varkey, who thanked him for sharing his unique knowledge with the most senior educators of the Group, led by Group Chief Education Officer, Dr Saima Rana, as well as meeting many students during his stay in the UAE.
He said: “We are fortunate that an education expert of Mr. Gibb’s global standing has selected GEMS to share his valuable time and expertise with our Heads of Schools, Senior Leadership teams, and other key members of our Education Team.
“Our educators gained very valuable insights, innovative, new thinking from Mr. Gibb and I hope we can work together in the future to benefit further from his guidance.”
He has stepped down as Member of Parliament for the Sussex constituency of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton in the south coast of England after representing the area for 27 years.
Mr. Gibb told Heads of Schools at the tri-annual Principals’ Conference: “The quality of the people I’ve met at GEMS has been phenomenal and I look forward to future collaborations.
