Superstar and entrepreneur Mona Kattan rejected the chance to be the star of The Real Housewives of Dubai series, sources with knowledge of the matter told Arabian Business.

Kattan, who has 2.7 million Instagram followers, is part of the Kattan billion-dollar beauty empire.

She was offered the chance to play the lead in the OSN+ series.

Recently, Mona Kattan also rejected the chance to be the star of Netflix’s soon to be aired Dubai Bling series, despited being lined up to be the main character and star of the show.

However, after a disagreement over Netflix’s proposed storyline for her, Kattan ditched the show, causing the global streaming giant to change the show’s storyline and lineup.

Post Kattan’s departure from the series, Netflix revealed the new 10 characters it had to settle for after Kattan’s departure, last week.

They include Kris FadeDJ Bliss and other local influencers.

Securing Kattan would have been a huge coup for the producers. Apart from a huge social media presence, she is the co-founder of Huda Beauty, founder of Kayali Fragrance, president of HB Investments and co-starred in the show Huda Boss.

“She was the real deal, a genuinely wealthy individual with star power. Dubai Bling was reaching for the stars with her on the show.  It’s a massive shame,” another source with knowledge of the matter told Arabian Business.

The source added: “Mona was the big-name superstar that was going to carry to show. But she refused to do it in the end, and Netflix had to completely change the stories and cast to somehow make it work.”
