New Zealand is set to establish an embassy in the UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi, the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister has said.
The announcement follows a meeting between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan and the New Zealand official Murray McCully, the website

reports.
“Opening an embassy in Abu Dhabi will provide a step forward for New Zealand’s diplomatic presence in the Middle East, and at the same time it will help facilitate further opportunities for New Zealand businesses in the Gulf region,” McCully was quoted as saying.
According to the report, the GCC is New Zealand’s sixth trading partner. Exports to the region by the south Pacific island country increased by 122 percent between 200 and 2009, McCully said.
The embassy is set to open in January, and will be New Zealand’s second in the Gulf following one in Riyadh.
