Expected dates for Ramadan 2024 have been revealed.

Emirates Astronomy Society chairman Ibrahim Al Jawal announced that the Islamic month of Rabi Al Awwal is expected to begin on Saturday, September 16.

This means the six-month countdown to the Islamic holy month would begin and expected dates can be calculated.

When is Ramadan 2024?

In a statement carried by UAE Barq, Al Jarwan said the new crescent moon will be born at 5.40am on Friday, September 15 and the first day of Rabi Al Awwal will be Saturday, September 16.

Accordingly, the holy month will begin six months later.

Based on astronomical predictions, the holy month of Ramadan is likely to begin on Monday, March 11, 2024 and end on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Official dates for the start of the holy month will depend on the sighting of a crescent moon closer to the time.

Ramadan is a significant month in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions of Muslims around the world with fasting, prayer, and charitable acts.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar. With 12 months and either 354 or 355 days in the Islamic year the corresponding date is slightly different each year.

Muslims are required to fast from dawn until sunset each day. The fast is broken each evening with a meal called iftar, which typically includes dates and other traditional foods.
