The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy has approved AED350 million ($95.3 million) worth of discounts on food throughout the holy month of Ramadan, according to a statement released by the WAM state news agency.
Speaking at a media briefing on consumer protection during Ramadan 2019 the ministry said the discounts would be available on around 10,000 items from 650 co-op societies and sales outlets throughout the country.
The UAE’s moon sighting committee on Sunday announced that Monday, May 6, will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
