The UAE’s Federal Authority for Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the start of the Islamic New Year will fall on Saturday, August 31.
The announcement, made following a moon sighting, means that all public and private sector workers will return to work as normal on Sunday, September 1.

Schools will also open on Sunday, which marks the start of a new academic year for many pupils in the country.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced last week that Muharram 1st, 1441, would be an official holiday with full pay for all public and private sector employees in the UAE.
