The UAE has warned motorists against driving as dust storm winds of up to 45kph engulf the nation on Tuesday

The National Centre of Meteorology issued a yellow alert for the public, and said these weather conditions could last until 8 PM.

The Abu Dhabi police also urged drivers to be cautious due to low visibility during high winds and dust.

The NCM also advised people to follow instructions from officials during poor visibility, and said “for your safety and for the safety of others on the road, please do not be distracted by taking any videos or using your phone.”

The UAE Ministry of Interior also warned of low visibility and advised drivers to be careful while driving.

“Due to the low in visibility and formation of dust, the Ministry of Interior calls on drivers to be cautious while driving,” it said.

The advisory comes as the nation is set to experience rain and dusty weather conditions in the coming days.

The NCM forecast rains in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, followed by light rain in Dubai, on Wednesday.

The NCM also said that Wednesday would be accompanied by “a significant decrease in temperatures”.
