The United Arab Emirates launched its first federally licensed lottery on Tuesday, introducing a range of games including a grand prize draw of AED 100 million ($27.2 million), marking a significant development in the Gulf region’s gaming sector.

The UAE Lottery, operated by The Game LLC under licence from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), will hold its inaugural draw on December 14, offering residents aged 18 and above multiple ways to participate through its official website.

Beyond the main “Lucky Day” draw’s top prize, the lottery will guarantee seven winners of AED 100,000 each through “Lucky Chance IDs.” The operator is also introducing scratch cards ranging from AED 5 to AED 50, with potential winnings of up to AED 1 million.

“Our mission at The UAE Lottery is to inspire people to dream big, aligning with our slogan, ‘Dare to Imagine,'” said Bishop Woosley, Director of Lottery Operations at The Game LLC. “We aim to create exciting experiences while promoting responsible play.”

“The issuance of a Certificate of Operation by the GCGRA to The UAE Lottery follows a thorough and demanding evaluation process. Our dedicated team ensured the lottery’s operations align with the GCGRA’s comprehensive regulatory framework, which prioritises consumer protection, upholds the integrity of lottery games, and promotes responsible gaming practices,” GCGRA said in a statement.

“We congratulate The UAE Lottery on achieving these high standards and reaffirm our commitment to maintaining vigilant oversight to safeguard the interests of consumers and all stakeholders. The GCGRA remains dedicated to ensuring all commercial gaming activities within the UAE operate with fairness, transparency, and accountability.”

The GCGRA, which licensed The Game LLC in July, emphasised that the approval followed “a thorough and demanding evaluation process” to ensure operations meet regulatory standards focusing on consumer protection and responsible gaming practices.

Tickets are available through the lottery’s official website, with various prize tiers and scratch card options designed to provide different entry points for participants.
