Only two days to go before the start of GITEX, the region's biggest annual technology event.
IT professionals around the world are gearing up for the start of GITEX, the region’s biggest and most talked about annual technology event.
Over 3,300 companies will take part in this year’s show, the 27th edition of the event, including 572 first timers.
New faces will include Danish company Dangaard Telecom, Indian IT service company HCL Technologies and US telecoms equipment company UTStarcom.
One of the three largest technology events in the world, GITEX will this year also have its largest ever international turnout - with 82 countries present, up from 79 last year.
The five-day event, which takes place in a 64,000 square metre space within Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will house 28 national pavilions - including first time official representation from Bulgaria and Italy.
The show is set to be a busy five days with a host of activities lined up for the more than 130,000 people expected to attend – from a packed global conference programme to Gadget Glam, GITEX’s first ever fashion show featuring all the latest products.
Highlights of the show will include the first official sighting of Apple’s iPhone in the region as well as the latest handset offerings from Dubai-based mobile vendor i-mate.
The show, which has been rebranded this year asGITEX Technology Week, is divided into three sections: GulfComms, which debuted for the first time last year, GITEX Business Solutions, and Consumer Electronics.
GITEX Technology Week runs 8-12 September.
The show is held in association with GITEX Shopper, taking place at the Airport Expo Dubai, which began yesterday and runs until 12 September.
