Young business minds will be treated to a programme of lectures and workshops on the theme of social entrepreneurship at the Global Youth Forum in Dubai.

The CSR division of Al Ahli Holding Group and Sony Mobile have invited national and international speakers to the event on 26-27 May to promote social entrepreneurship skills among Emirati youth.

Supported by Dubai SME, the event is run on the theme Social Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics, and aims to prepare 250 Emirati and international students on how to set-up their social enterprises.

The free event will kick off at 9am on Tuesday, 26 May, while proceedings on the following day start at 4.30pm.

The programme includes workshops on the dos and don’ts of social entrepreneurship by C3 – Consult and Coach for a Cause, financial education for businesses by Emirates Islamic Bank, speed networking sessions, and the Learning and Career fair.

The students who choose to attend workshops will also be able to enter a competition for the best social enterprise project presented during the event.

Among the speakers will be Madi Sharma, member of the European Economic and Social Committee, Khalid Al Ameri, an Emirati columnist on education and youth development, and Gita Ghaemmaghami, marketing communications manager at Sony Mobile Middle East & Africa, who will talk about the importance of technology and mobility for young entrepreneurs.

As the exclusive governmental partner of the event, Dubai SME will present success stories of social enterprises in the region and facts and figures on entrepreneurship and SMEs in Dubai and the UAE.

Speaking about the programme, Lina Hourani, director of Al Ahli Holding Group’s CSR division, said: “Al Ahli CSR created the GYF platform to give our youth the chance to listen, learn and network with the best national and international practices in doing business.

“This year our focus is on business ethics and the socially responsible business concept, which is inspired by our CEO’s, Mohamed Khammas, message to the young generation. We wish our young generation and participants a truly fruitful experience.”

CSR Al Ahli Holding Group is a philanthropic arm of Al Ahli Holding Group that was founded in 2008 with an aim to develop Arab youth, build their skills, and widen their horizons and exposure.
