All UAE residents will be able to carry out all visa and residency transactions via a new system that has been introduced by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

State news agency WAM reported that there is now no need for residents to visit either the GDRFA or any of its external branches to carry out transactions, which can now be conducted through approved typing services centres.

Colonel Hussein Ibrahim, assistant to the director general for administrative support at the GDRFA said that residents will need to provide accurate information to the typing centre, including valid phone numbers, addresses and email addresses in order to allow for proper communication.

Transactions related to visit visas will be sent to applicants’ email addresses, while applications for residency visas will have documents forwarded by courier.

After approval is confirmed, residents will need to visit immigration headquarters just once in order to get their passports stamped.

Application fees for both visit and residency visas will remain the same.
