Crane’s brakes reportedly failed but no injuries
Another crane at the Grand Mosque redevelopment site in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, fell and damaged the wall of a nearby office, local media said on Sunday.
The crane crashed into the outer walls of a documentation office outside the mosque when its brakes failed, Saudi Gazette reported, citing an unnamed source.
The source said the crane was involved in the Grand Mosque redevelopment project. There were reportedly no injuries or fatalities.
Meanwhile, the trial over the fatal collapse of the Saudi Binladin Group crane last year is ongoing.
The kingdom’s Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution has been investigating last year’s crash in which more than 100 people died and 200 others were injured.
Fourteen people went on trial in August charged with causing the fatal accident.
