Gulf Air's all-female crew create new milestone

In what is believed to be a first for the airline, Bahrain’s Gulf Air had an all-female crew for a flight to Pakistan last week.

Gulf Daily News reported that the Flight GF752 from Bahrain to Karachi on October 22 was piloted by Vanessa Umba, who is also the airline’s first female captain.

Also on board the flight were senior first officer Waed Al Dosery and cabin crew Sandra Stojankvic, Divina Duque, Lenka Vojtaskova and Thahani El Fraykh, the newspaper reported.

“The flight was uneventful and we arrived 20 minutes earlier on schedule, showing a high level of professionalism,” Ms Umba, told the newspaper, adding that it as “another milestone for women in the challenging male-dominated aviation industry”.
