Sun & Sand Sports will set up dedicated club concessions across its stores in the UAE as part of deal
Gulf-based Sun & Sand Sports has announced a partnership with Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City Football Club which will see the retailer set up dedicated concession spaces in selected stores across the UAE.
The announcement of the retail and wholesale partnership with the newly-crowned Premier League champions came during the team's visit to the UAE with included a match against Al Ain on Thursday night.
The retailer said in a statement that the partnership includes City Stores and dedicated Manchester City concession spaces within selected Sun & Sand Sports stores throughout the UAE.
Mohammad A Baker, Gulf Marketing Group deputy chairman, said: “Football is very close to the heart of consumers in the Middle East... Sun & Sand Sports looks forward to a long standing relationship with Manchester City Football Club."
Tom Glick, chief commercial officer of Manchester City, added: “We are looking forward to a strong partnership with Sun & Sand Sports to operate City Stores and create Manchester City concession areas across the Sun & Sand Sports store network."
The partnership is part of Sun & Sand Sports’ wider strategic plan which includes the completion of 43 new store openings across the GCC during its current financial year.
The expansion will bring the retailer's regional portfolio to more than 200 stores and will include the launch of 14 new Sun & Sand Sports stores in addition to six Sun & Sand Sports KIDS stores.
Sun & Sand Sports was established in 1979 and was the first business set up as part of the Gulf Marketing Group. The group encompasses more than 90 diverse sports brands as well as 50 major global brands.
