Three
Gulf diplomats were attacked by a gunman who opened fire on their car
travelling in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Saturday, the Qatar News Agency
(QNA) confirmed on Sunday.

The
unknown gunman opened fire on a car carrying a Qatari Consul, an Omani Consul
and a Kuwaiti deputy consul, QNA confirmed.

While
no one was injured in the attack, the gunman tried to forcibly open the car
door during an attempted armed robbery, QNA added.

Pakistani
police official Fayyaz Leghri told the Associated Press the diplomats were not
directly targeted.

Another unnamed police official confirmed two men travelling
on motorcycles were involved in the attack and both managed to get away with an
undisclosed amount of money and a mobile phone.

Violent
crime is common in the Pakistani city and last month police officials said
authorities were planning to implement a video surveillance system in order to
try and combat rising crime levels.
