A Bahraini man and two Thai women were arrested in Bahrain for posing as doctors and running an illegal clinic carrying out plastic surgery operations, according to a report by the Gulf Daily News website.

The unlicensed clinic came to the attention of authorities when a Bahraini woman paid 1,200 Bahraini dinar ($3,191) for a buttock enhancement surgery and was not happy with the results, the report said.

The three defendants denied the charges in court.

A defence lawyer for the Bahraini man claimed her client did not pose as a doctor and only worked as a translator as the two Thai women, who he claimed carried out the surgeries, did not speak English.

The next hearing in the case will be September 4.
