Dubai approves plans to simplify health insurance, improve hospital efficiency

The measures were approved by Dubai Crown Prince and chairman of the Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at a meeting in Emirates Towers.

Dubai’s Executive Council has agreed to improve healthcare in the emirate, simplify government health insurance coverage and make government hospitals more efficient.

The measures were approved by Dubai Crown Prince and chairman of the Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at a meeting in Emirates Towers, which was attended by Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The proposed initiatives from Dubai Health Authority aim to integrate and connect services of healthcare providers and promote a healthy culture, unifying health insurance programmes and updating them to include specific categories of society.

It was also agreed to update the general medicines and sick leave policies, which it is hoped will provide more efficient services at lower costs, and to reduce unnecessary visits to the doctor.
