Abu Dhabi launches Covid-19 drive-through testing centre

Centre at Zayed Sports City offers the test in five minutes

Abu Dhabi launches Covid-19 drive-through testing centre

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the mobile Covid-19 test centre set up by SEHA at Zayed Sports City.

Abu Dhabi has launched a drive-through testing facility at Zayed Sports City for Covid-19 that will complete the test in five minutes.

People who are considered to have contracted the virus and those who are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, pregnant women or people with chronic diseases will be prioritised, and can avail of the test for free news agency WAM reported.

For the wider community who prefer to do the examination for reassurance only, the testing procedure will cost AED370. Results of the tests will be available through SMS and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) app.

With a maximum of four people being tested at one time, the facility will operate every day from 8am to 8pm - allowing for average capacity of 600 tests daily.

As part of the process, patients will need to book an appointment through Estijaba 8001717, where a pre-screening process will take place through a series of questions.

Mohammed Hawas Al Sadeed, executive director of Out-patient Treatment Services commented on the testing process, saying, "The facilities set up at the Zayed Sports City will have four entry paths from which patients can arrive. All testing is conducted within the car, with patients needing to remain seated.

"As patients arrive to Zayed Sports City, they will receive a welcome message from SEHA which is broadcast via the in-car radio. Patients will have to keep their ID cards ready and windows closed."

The Abu Dhabi centre is the fifth in the world to implement a drive-through service.
