Coronavirus: UAE second highest in the world for Covid-19 testing, says ministry

Covid-19 tests have been conducted in collaboration with various authorities in the country, as part of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The UAE ranks second in the world for the number of Covid-19 tests carried out, according to latest figures released by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The ministry said it has carried out more than 220,000 laboratory tests across the UAE for coronavirus, which is equivalent to 22,900 test per million people – the second highest in the world.

Covid-19 tests have been conducted in collaboration with various authorities in the country, as part of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

On Saturday, Abu Dhabi launched a drive-through testing facility at Zayed Sports City that can complete a Covid-19 test in five minutes - allowing for average capacity of 600 tests daily. The UAE now plans to roll out drive-through testing centres across the country.
