Abu Dhabi drive-through test centre offers a five-minute, in-vehicle test for coronavirus
Drive-through coronavirus test centres are to be set up across the UAE.
It comes following the successful launch of a drive-through testing facility in Abu Dhabi at Zayed Sports City.
The Abu Dhabi centre is the first of its kind in the UAE and the fifth internationally, and offers a five-minute, in-vehicle test for Covid-19.
The Department of Health- Abu Dhabi will open test centres in Dubai, Sharjah (also serving Ajman and Umm al Qaiwain), Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, in the next ten days.
Further information regarding the contact details of the new centres and appointment procedures will be announced ahead of the openings.
In terms of the Abu Dhabi facility, which operates from 8am to 8pm every weekday and provides services to around 600 people, those who are considered to have contracted the virus and individuals who are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, pregnant women or people with chronic diseases are being prioritised, and can take the test for free.
For the wider community who prefer to do the examination for reassurance only, the testing procedure will cost AED370. Results of the tests will be available through SMS and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) app.
There are currently 570 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE, which reported its third death on Sunday.
