Country announces nationwide sanitisation campaign aimed at curbing spread of virus
Kuwait registered its first coronavirus-related death on Saturday.
The country has 417 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus, while Kuwait’s Minister of Health Shaikh Dr. Basel Al Sabah has announced the recovery of 11 cases, raising the total recoveries to 93.
It comes as Kuwait kicks off a nationwide sanitization campaign aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus.
Kuwait Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Waleed Al-Jassem announced the biggest sanitisation campaign in the Capital Governorate on Friday.
He said: “The campaign kick-started at Al-Mubarakiyah marketplace and will cover all areas of the Capital Governorate, following similar works in Al-Farwaniyah Governorate.”
He added that the campaign by Kuwait Municipality will move on to other governorates across the country.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has allocated its ‘vegetable market’ (popular local vegetable area) to supply cooperative societies and supermarkets only, in order to avoid gatehrings.
According to a cabinet order, priority must be given to cooperative societies, markets, restaurants, hotels and outlets selling agricultural products.
