Coronavirus: UAE confirms 283 more cases as death toll reaches 12

MoHAP said the new cases were a result of people not following the strict preventive measures or adhering to social distancing guidelines and coming into contact with previously infected patients.


The UAE reported 283 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday as the death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic climbed to 12.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has confirmed that an Asian citizen, who suffered from chronic diseases, has become the latest victim of the deadly virus in the UAE.

The total number of cases in the country stands at 2,359.

“The newly diagnosed patients of various nationalities are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care,'' MoHAP said.

MoHAP added that the new cases were a result of people not following the strict preventive measures or adhering to social distancing guidelines and coming into contact with previously infected patients.

The authority also announced the full recovery of 19 cases, taking the total number of recoveries to 186.

Across the GCC the number of confirmed cases rose to 9,136 on Tuesday with 67 deaths. Saudi Arabia (2,795 and 41 deaths), UAE (2,359, 12 deaths), Qatar (2,057, six deaths), Bahrain (811, five deaths), Kuwait (743, one death) and Oman (371 and two deaths).
